Hello Everyone,
I recently stumbled upon a beautiful picture book version of Michael Bond’s A Bear Called Paddington when wandering in my local Barnes & Noble. Below is the review of this delightful retelling for young readers I posted on Goodreads.
Paddington by Michael Bond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Awaiting their daughter’s arrival, Mr. and Mrs. Brown meet a lonely and polite bear, who was a stowaway on a ship from Darkest Peru to London. They decide he cannot be left in the train station, since he is wearing a tag which reads “Please take care of this bear.” The Browns promptly name him Paddington and take him home to live on Windsor Gardens, where he meets their children, Judy and Johnathon, and housekeeper, Mrs. Bird. After a near-catastrophe in the bathroom, Paddington tells the Browns and Mrs. Bird about his adventures traveling along from Darkest Peru, while eating a marmalade sandwich and promptly falls asleep.
This adorable abbreviation of Michael Bond’s beloved A Bear Called Paddington introduces the charming bear from Darkest Peru to a new generation of readers. Lovely illustrations accompany the text following closely to Bond’s original story. There are several additions in this picture book series about Paddington which will delight young and old alike as they share in the adventures of Paddington and the Brown family.
