Salutations!
I hope everyone’s 2024 is off to a fantastic start. As I begin my last semester in graduate school for my MSLIS, I am slowly updating this blog with reflections pondered and work produced over the past two years. During my INFO 5300 Organization of Information class in Fall 2022, I was tasked with interpreting an existing MARC record and generating my own Dublin Core record for different types of bibliographic materials. For the MARC record, I chose to examine the LC data for a book, and for the Dublin Core record, I chose to evaluate a two-disc music CD. I feel both these exercises helped me understand the mechanics of both metadata schemas and how such information is presented within the materials themselves or known based on analysis of the physical objects.
Below are two links to the resultant documents I prepared for my professor.
MARC record for A Damsel in Distress by P. G. Wodehouse
Dublin Core record for Sing It Now: Songs of Faith and Hope by Reba McEntire
